December 2025 | The Best Time to Invest

Merry Christmas from your team at Perennial Wealth Advisors!

The end of the year marks a busy time for most of us: celebrations, term endings, deadlines, and the seemingly never-ending temptation for “just one more” baked good or sweet treat. In this edition of our monthly newsletter, we hope to add a little order to the chaos with a quick market update and some friendly reminders.

May you and yours be blessed this holiday season!

MARKET UPDATE

The Federal Reserve moved forward with a 0.25% interest rate cut this Wednesday, but indicated they will likely pause rate cuts for January. This is yet another sign that the Fed believes policy is too tight and inflation is, in fact, easing – though they remain cautious. Consumer spending remains strong, and the labor market doesn’t seem to be deteriorating.

We may also see extensions of the 2017 tax cuts, with the possibility of additional cuts promised by the Trump administration. This could increase disposable income, supporting the consumer, and in turn, the price of American common stocks.

In summary, although the market continues to dance near all-time highs, the data looks strong. If you’ve read our previous newsletters, you know how seriously we doubt our ability (or anyone’s) to time the market. Given we cannot forecast when the next downturn will occur, or how deep it will be, how do we know the best time to invest?

Posed with this question, my mind returns to a quote pertinent to times like these. I’m having a hard time attributing the quote correctly – my gut says Nick Murray, but Google seems to prefer Jack Bogle or Peter Lynch. Perhaps the confusion is due to the shared wisdom of all three investing titans. The wisdom being: the fool’s errand of market timing and the eternal importance of patience, persistence, and a long-term orientation to investing. Now for the quote:

“The best time to invest is when you have the money. The best time to sell is when you need the money.”

As always, please reach out if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
